Redefining Professionalism

Redefining professionalism

Professionalism

/prəˈfɛʃənəlɪz(ə)m/

Professionalism is the skill, good judgment, and polite behaviour expected from a person trained to do a job well. It reflects how seriously you take your work and how you treat others.

Professionalism, integrity and ethics are the pillars of great organizations; organizations that can stand the test of time. Decades ago, consulting, accounting, auditing, banks and other services are regarded as the stalwarts and stewards of professionalism, ethics, integrity and honesty. Over time, however, these values deteriorated and at the turn of the century accelerated with the demise of Arthur Andersen. Just like with a snap of fingers, practically all large institutions threw away the stewardship role of professionalism that they had built over the decades. The latest being the Australia KPMG-Lendlease fiasco which came to light in early 2026.

Professionalism is all but gone. In an increasingly commercialized world, the pursuit of profit can sometimes overshadow professionalism. Greed took over and professionalism took a dive; that includes the worldwide visa and migration industry.

Alter Domus (MM2H) Sdn Bhd and its predecessor were founded on the premise of providing the best possible services to clients and thus cultivating genuine and lasting personal relationships. The perquisite of this premise is professionalism. In an industry that is currently awash with misinformation particularly through social media, ignorance, negligence or even malfeasance, we believe that it is time to remind prospective clients the true meaning of professionalism.

It is time to redefine professionalism.

What is professionalism?

  • Competence – Doing our job with high level of skill and knowledge. Be efficient and effective. Be proactive and not reactive. Develop the skill to identify clients’ misunderstandings and misinformation.

  • Commitment to excellence – Finding ways to exceed expectations of clients, colleagues and partners. Be responsible. Be proactive.

  • Ethics – Being honest to everyone including own self, keeping promises and ensuring that everything we do is lawful and legal.

  • Accountability – Admitting to mistakes, fixing them and making sure they do not occur again. No excuses for failures.

  • Respect – Respect is earned, not bought. Treat everyone, including yourself and the company with utmost respect. Treat company property and resources with care and responsibility.

  • Passion – Dedicated and passionate in helping clients and supporting co-workers. Willing to go the extra mile for them.

Above all, clients place their trust in organizations and people who value professionalism. Trust is of upmost importance when clients rely on us in helping them make Malaysia their primary or secondary residence.

Passionate Commitment to Excellence

An organization becomes soulless if its employees lack passion and dedication. They are the drivers for excellence and serve as a basis for continuous improvement. Without continuous improvement there can be no excellence and allowing mistakes to be repeated guarantee failures. Postmortems must be conducted to identify root causes. Thus, corrective actions or systems must be implemented to prevent similar mistakes from recurring. Training is then carried out to ensure familiarity with corrective actions.

In a nutshell, professionalism simply means “not meeting but exceeding client expectations”. We aim to provide answers to questions that our clients may not even know they need to ask. We believe that respect is earned, not bought. Passion and dedication to excellence ensure that we try to predict what you are going to do, what you may ask and detect any misunderstandings that may arise. We strive to identify and address them before they become challenges later. In other words, we go the extra mile.

It is critical that clients receive a complete set of information and are aware of the processing sequence. Without a proper method, some clients may miss out or misunderstand critical information. Alter Domus (MM2H) Sdn. Bhd. Has therefore put systems in place to eliminate questions like “Are you sure you told me about this?” or “We forgot to let you know that you cannot do this.”

Our company places utmost attention and importance on training and automation. Efficiency and effectiveness in preparing and submitting perfect applications are critical. They are constantly improved through regular training. New methods are constantly being tested to further improve both efficiency and effectiveness.

We strive to provide a great working environment. Workspaces are brightly lit and comfortable. Communication between colleagues is open and transparent. Everyone shares a common objective – to make Alter Domus (MM2H) Sdn. Bhd. the premier MM2H sponsor and a great place to work!
